Dortmund Airport (DTM) is a regional airport that serves the eastern Ruhr region and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The airport is located 10 km east of Dortmund city centre in the municipality of Holzwickede.

DTM is largely a low-cost airport with few, if any, full-service airlines flying to and from it. It is a smaller alternative to the larger nearby airports in Düsseldorf (DUS) or Cologne (CGN). Dortmund Airport handled around 3.5 million passengers in 2025.
Major Airlines - Wizz Air
The airline with the most flights and routes at DTM is Wizz Air. The Hungarian low-cost giant operates a base at Dortmund Airport and offers direct flights to over 30 destinations, mainly in Central and Eastern Europe.
The other airlines operating at DTM only have a handful of flights each. They are:
Eurowings flies to Palma de Mallorca in Spain.
SunExpress flies to cities in Turkey, like Izmir and Antalya.
Pegasus Airlines flies to Istanbul and, seasonally, to Antalya.

Condor also flies to Palma de Mallorca during the high summer season.

Terminal Layout and Gates
Dortmund Airport has one passenger terminal - Terminal A.
The layout is standard, as in most airports:
The Ground Floor is used for Arrivals.
Level 1 is for Departures and has 30 check-in desks. After Security, there are 13 gates. Non-Schengen passengers are separated by Passport Control.
Level 2, also called the 'Gallery', houses most of the passenger facilities.
The airport is open from 03:30 AM until midnight. Staying within the terminal overnight is not allowed.
Free Wi-Fi and other services
Dortmund Airport offers free wi-fi in all public areas of the airport. To connect, select "DOKOM21 Hotspot@Airport" from the list of available networks. A welcome page should open automatically; if it doesn’t, open your browser manually. There, select the free-access option and connect.
Other passenger facilities at DTM include:
ATMs: A Postbank ATM is in the Arrivals Hall.
Lost and Found: The office is located on the departure level, next to the Information Desk.
Baby-changing rooms: on every level of the terminal, both landside and airside.
Viewing terrace: Located on the 2nd floor, landside. It’s free to visit, and it’s open when the terminal is.
Lounges
Dortmund Airport does not have any lounges.
Dining Options at DTM
There are very few places where you can grab something to eat or drink at Dortmund Airport. There is a notable lack of sit-down restaurants, but you will find it easy to buy coffee or something to go.
Dining options include:
Südbar am Airport: Offers coffee, soft drinks, and snacks before Security. It is on Level 1, next to Security checkpoint A, open daily from 6 AM to 8 PM.
WESTBar: A small kiosk that sells drinks, snacks, and newspapers. Located just after the Security checkpoint, towards Gates 0-6.
There is also a small “Take Away" shop near Gates 7-12, where you can buy sandwiches, drinks, or desserts.
Transport to and from the airport
The AirportExpress links DTM with the Dortmund Central Station. This shuttle bus stops directly on the Central Station forecourt (Königswall/City exit), near the taxi rank, and runs once per hour. Single tickets cost 10 EUR, purchasable in cash from the bus driver or at the ticket machines before boarding.
The AirportShuttle is a cheaper public bus alternative that goes all the way to Holzwickede station. Single tickets cost 3 EUR. This bus runs every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends.
At both stations, you can transfer to regional and long-distance trains.

Three other public bus lines also serve Dortmund Airport:
Bus Line 490: bound for Aplerbeck. Take this bus and transfer to the U47 metro line to reach the Dortmund city center.
Bus Line 440: bound for Lütgendortmund/Hörde.
Bus Line C41: connects Unna Station with Hbf train station, stopping at the airport. Tickets for 60 minutes cost 3.40 EUR. Runs once per hour.
The taxi rank is on the Arrivals level, next to the east exit. The approximate fare to the Dortmund city center is around 35 EUR.
You can also rent a car directly at the airport. Car rental companies, including Avis, Budget, Europcar, and SIXT, have desks on the Arrivals level, while the cars themselves are on level 0 inside car park P1.
Parking at Dortmund Airport
Dortmund Airport offers 7 different parking facilities plus a Kiss&Fly zone.
The Kiss&Fly zone is intended for quick drop-offs and pick-ups. It’s located directly in front of the terminal’s entrances and exits on Level 1, just a few steps away from the Check-in Area. However, unlike most other airports, this zone does not have a gratis period. Instead, it charges 3 EUR per 10 minutes with a maximum stay of 30 minutes.
For short-term parking, it’s best to use P1, P2, or P4:
P1 is an underground car park directly next to the terminal building. It can be reached by taking the arrivals lane. Parking here costs 7 EUR for the first 2 hours and 14 EUR for up to 4 hours.
P2 is a covered parking facility about 3 minutes from the terminal. It has the same pricing structure as P1.
P4 is also covered, but a bit further away from the terminal. It is served by bus line 490, which can take you to the terminal in no time. Parking here costs 3 EUR per hour.
The other parking options, P3, P5 (the only one covered), P6, and P7 are intended for long stays. They only offer daily rates: 29 EUR in P3, 27 EUR in P5, and 20 EUR in P6 and P7. While P3 is within walking distance of the terminal, to reach P5, P6, and P7, take bus line 490. Discounted tickets are available from the car park ticket machines or online.
Charging for EVs is available in a designated space on Level 0 of Car Park P1.
Hotels near Dortmund Airport
Dortmund Airport’s closest hotel is the ibis budget Dortmund Airport, which is about a 15-minute walk from the terminal. With its soundproofed rooms and a fine, plentiful breakfast, it’s a top choice if you need to be close to DTM.
Right beside it, and similarly priced, is the B&B HOTEL Dortmund-Airport, which offers a self-check-in system, minimalistic decor, but well-equipped rooms nonetheless, and a breakfast buffet.
A bit farther away, but still close enough to be called an airport hotel (~2 km), you can stay at the TM Hotel by Dortmund Airport. It offers private rooms with shared areas and a simple breakfast, making it a simple and practical accommodation option.
