Terminal Layout and Gates
Edinburgh Airport has a single, two-story terminal building.
The ground floor houses check-in areas and arrivals, including baggage claim, while the upper floor, with 23 gates, is dedicated to departures.
Gates 13 to 23 are located in the South East Pier, which opened in 2006.
A car rental center is located outside the terminal building.
Connecting Flights and Transit
Edinburgh Airport does not have an International Connection Facility.
This means that you must go through Immigration, baggage reclaim, and Customs for any transit at Edinburgh Airport.
Ensure you meet any visa requirements for the UK if you intend to connect flights at EDI.

Wi-Fi at Edinburgh Airport
Wi-Fi at EDI Airport is free for the first 2 hours and available throughout the terminal.
To connect, select the "Airport Free Wi-Fi" network. Your browser should automatically open the welcome page. Enter your details and click Connect. Voila, you're on the Internet.
Dining Options at EDI
Edinburgh Airport offers a fair share of dining establishments, such as restaurants, fast food outlets, and bars, both before and after Security.
Before you pass Security, you can grab a cup of coffee at Caffè Nero, Costa Coffee, or Black Sheep Coffee. The latter also serves cocktails, beers, and bagels.
For a bar and kitchen, try the Bridge & Castle, and for a quick sandwich on the go, check out Pret a Manger.
After Security, you will have even more places to choose from.
You can watch your favorite sports game with a pint in hand at Icons Sports Bar or experience the quintessential Scottish pub culture at Weatherspoor’s The Sir Walter Scott.
Caffè Nero and Starbucks are ready to deliver your hot aromatic coffee, whereas the Fever-Tree Bar is a more sophisticated place to relax with a glass of selected spirits, long-glass cocktails, and exquisite pairings like smoked ham and gin-cured olives.
Barburrito and BrewDog are there to offer a full-day menu and for dessert - how about a sweet treat from Krispy Kreme?
Because of the relatively small size of the airport, all of these dining options are pretty close to each other. The general promise at the airport is that food will be delivered within 15 minutes, so you will always have enough time for a quick bite.

Lounges at Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport houses four VIP lounges which offer premium amenities to exclusive program members and frequent fliers.
The British Airways Lounge is available to BA passengers and eligible Oneworld members. It offers refreshments, workspaces, and relaxation areas. It’s located next to gate 4.
The Aspire Lounge is perfect for business travelers because of its work booths, tableside charging, and unlimited WiFi. Let’s not forget the complimentary food and drinks. You can find it near Gate 16.
Another open-access lounge is the Plaza Premium Lounge situated near Gate 13. It makes for a great place to relax before a flight with its runway views, beautiful bar, free food, and a dedicated kids zone.
The newest addition to the lounge scene in Edinburgh Airport is the Escape Lounge set to open in the Spring of 2025, near Gate 4. It is already taking reservations (or has already opened depending on when you’re reading this).
Transport to and from Edinburgh Airport
Getting to Edinburgh Airport isn’t difficult. You have a choice between a couple of different types of transport:
Tram: The Edinburgh Trams provide a direct link between the airport, the city center, and onwards to Newhaven. Trams run from 06:26 until 22:48 with a frequency of 7-10 minutes.
Bus: Lothian Buses operates the Airlink 100 service, offering a 24-hour shuttle between the airport and Edinburgh Waverley station. The ride takes about 30 minutes. Intercity buses are aplenty with a direct bus to pretty much any major destination in Scotland.
Trains: You can combine the tram with a long-distance train easily. Combo tickets for tram & train are sold at the vending machines in the check-in hall. The tram will take you to Edinburgh Waverly Station, which is the main railway station in the city.
Taxi: You can find the official taxi ranks in the East Terminus, a short walk from arrivals. The official taxi company for Edinburgh Airport is Capital Cars. A 20-minute trip to the city costs around 25-40 GBP.

Parking at Edinburgh Airport
The airport offers a wide selection of car parks for different durations of stay and budgets.
For very short stays, it’s best to use the Terminal Parking. It’s perfect if you want a mix of convenience and location. The distance to the terminal is just 2 minutes on foot. The price is 7 GBP for the first 15 minutes or 15 GBP for up to an hour. The daily rate is 60 GBP.
The Mid Stay Parking is also well-positioned and not too far from the terminal building (a 5-minute walk). Stays of up to 30 minutes cost 9 GBP, up to an hour cost 12 GBP, up to 3 hours is 20 GBP, and the daily rate is 60 GBP.
The Long Stay Parking is a great cost-effective option if you will be away for 4 days or more. The first 30 minutes are free and the first hour costs 8 GBP. Where this parking lot really shines is longer stays - every day after the first costs only 20-30 GBP. The drawback? This car park is 12 minutes on foot away from the terminal and there is no shuttle bus.
Last but certainly not least, the Multi-storey parking is the closest you can park to the Terminal due to its bridge directly connecting it to the Security Hall. Additionally, if you book to arrive between 3:30 AM and 6:00 PM, you get security fastTRACK access for up to five people. The first 3 hours of parking (the minimum duration) cost 25 GBP with the first day capped at 70 GBP. Longer stays cost between 20 and 50 GBP per day.
It is advisable to pre-book for either of these parking options. Pre-booking can save you up to 60% on the parking fee.

Hotels near Edinburgh Airport
There are no hotels inside the terminal building but you have a choice of 3 hotels directly outside:
Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh Airport: The closest hotel to the terminal, albeit only by a few meters. It offers great comfy rooms and a lovely restaurant.
Moxy Edinburgh Airport: A stylish hotel within walking distance of the terminal. Its rooms are contemporary and a little playful. If you’d like a funky youthful hotel, Moxy is the choice.
DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh Airport: Also less than 10 minutes on foot from the terminal, this 4-star hotel is a beautiful place to stay during layovers or after a canceled flight.
