Katowice International Airport (KTW), officially Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport (KTW), serves Katowice and the Upper Silesian metropolitan area in southern Poland.

The airport is located 30 km north of the city centre, in the village of Pyrzowice.

It is the fourth-busiest airport in Poland and served more than 7 million passengers in 2025. KTW is mostly a leisure airport, connected to more than 50 destinations in over 25 countries across Europe, North Africa, and Asia.

Major Airlines - Wizz Air, Ryanair

Katowice Airport is served by a wide variety of airlines, including European low‑cost, leisure carriers, full-service airlines, and seasonal charters.

Two of the largest carriers are Wizz Air and Ryanair. Both offer dozens of routes to large as well as regional airports in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

Wizz Air operates flights to over 35 destinations from Katowice.

LOT Polish Airlines, Poland’s flag carrier, offers a daily connection to Warsaw-Chopin (WAW) and seasonal charters to holiday hotspots in Morocco, Turkey, Greece, Spain, the Maldives, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, and more.

A few other airlines operate at KTW throughout the year: Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti fly to Frankfurt, and Corendon and SunExpress fly to Antalya.

Terminal Layout and Gates

Katowice Airport has 3 small connected passenger terminals and a new fourth one that is separate:

  • Terminal A: Handles non‑Schengen departures.

  • Terminal B: Handles Schengen departures.

  • Terminal C: Handles most arrivals, including all scheduled arrivals from both Schengen and non-Schengen.

  • Terminal D: A former cargo terminal transformed into a passenger facility in 2024 to meet increased demand. Handles charter flight arrivals from the Schengen area during the summer.

Terminals A, B, and C are part of a single building complex, whereas Terminal D is a few meters away, linked by a walkway. Transfers are rare but as easy as walking to your new terminal - there is no airside transit area.

There are a total of 16 boarding gates, which mostly use bus boarding.

The terminals are open 24/7, allowing you to stay indoors even during the night.

Free Wi-Fi and other services

Katowice Airport offers free Wi-Fi throughout all terminals. It doesn’t require logging in or registration, but you may have to reconnect after 60 minutes.

Lounges at KTW

Katowice Airport has 2 Business Lounges:

  • In Terminal A, ground floor, for non‑Schengen passengers.

  • In Terminal B, second floor, for Schengen passengers

Both are open from 04:00 to 22:00 every day of the week.

The lounges offer a wide range of hot and cold drinks (including alcohol), snacks, wi-fi, TV, international newspapers, and office equipment.

Star Alliance members in Business Class, HON status, or GOLD status can enter for free. Everyone else can enter by paying the entrance fee of 200 PLN at the door. Priority Pass and Lounge Key are no longer accepted (since January 2026).

LOT Polish Airlines is Poland's flag carrier and flies to Katowice.

Dining Options at Katowice Airport

You can find a limited number of cafés and casual dining spots in the departures halls of Terminal A and Terminal B.

Most are landside, before the Security check, thus open to all passengers. These include Coffee House, SO! Coffee, Cavarious Cafe, Travel Chef, and the bistro Chyć i Leć in Terminal A and Cavarious Cafe in Terminal B.

You can also get a snack or a drink from the small convenience stores: 1 Minute in Terminal C and Relay in Terminal A.

Transport to and from the airport

Katowice Airport has convenient connections to the city and beyond via buses and trains.

The ”Pyrzowice Lotnisko” railway station is just 500 metres from the terminals, linked via a walkway. Two lines stop at the airport:

  • S9 regional commuter between Częstochowa and Chorzów Batory via KTW. Approximately once every 2 hours in each direction.

  • RegioJet international service between Prague (Czechia) and Warsaw (Poland).

RegioJet runs a daily train between Prague and Warsaw, stopping at Katowice Airport.

Direct airport bus services connect the terminal with Katowice city centre and the railway station, as well as other cities in Poland and neighboring countries. Notable lines include:

  • M16/M116 to Gliwice.

  • M11 to Katowice.

Katowice Airport Taxis is the official taxi company at the airport. The taxi ranks are outside Terminal C. Rides to Katowice city center cost around PLN 210 (€50), taking 35-40 minutes.

There are 9 rental car companies at Katowice Airport, all of which have desks at Terminal C (Arrivals). These are Avis Budget, CarFree, Enterprise, Global Rent A Car, GT-CARS RENT A CAR, Jolcar, Panek S.A., SIXT, and Europcar.

Parking at KTW

Katowice Airport offers several parking areas, of which P1 is the closest and most convenient, while P2 is the largest, and P4/P5 are the cheapest.

  • P1: Closest short‑term parking, minutes from all terminals. Costs 7 PLN for the first hour, 150 PLN for the first day, and 50 PLN each additional day.

  • P2: Located east of Terminal 4. Costs 10 PLN for the first hour, 89 PLN for the first day, and 20 PLN for each additional day.

  • P4 and P5: Situated farther away from the terminal, but offer much cheaper rates for longer stays. Parking fees begin at 39 PLN for the first day and 10-30 PLN for additional days.

  • Premium Parking: The only covered parking option, with 232 spaces close to Terminal C. Costs 10 PLN for the first hour and 200 PLN for the first day, plus 50 PLN for each additional day.

A free Airport Bus runs between Terminal C and Car Parks P2, P4, and P5.

Hotels near Katowice Airport

Moxy Hotel by Marriott, a 3-star, highly-rated, youthful hotel, is adjacent to the main parking area near the terminals. It’s less than 5 minutes on foot from Terminal C, Arrivals. Moxy also offers a fitness center and a bar, while all rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and a work desk.

Moxy is a hotel known for its playful brand and the vibrant communal "living room" lobbies.

Also very near Katowice Airport is Noclegi Alda - a simpler but comfortable hotel with 24/7 service and a large parking area.

The Noclegi Darex is of very similar quality and only 100 meters farther than the Alda. Both are perfect for budget-conscious travelers with early flights from KTW.
