Nadi International Airport (NAN) is Fiji’s premier international gateway. The airport is located in Namaka, Ba Province, on the main island of Viti Levu, approximately 10 km from the city of Nadi and 20 km from Lautoka.
In a typical year, the airport handles approximately 2.5 million passengers, with the majority being international tourists. NAN handles an extraordinary 97% of Fiji’s international arrivals, with the other major airport, Nausori International (SUV), located near the capital Suva, receiving the rest.
This modest number still ranks Nadi Airport as the busiest airport in Oceania, excluding the US, Australia, and New Zealand.
Major Airlines - Fiji Airways
Fiji Airways acts as the national carrier, and Nadi is its main hub. From NAN, Fiji Airways offers flights to Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Asia, and neighboring Pacific Islands. The airline offers direct flights to more than 30 destinations and is by far the largest operator at Nadi Airport.
Fiji Link, the domestic and regional arm of Fiji Airways, serves several smaller airports in Fiji and a few international destinations in Samoa and Tonga.

Major airlines from New Zealand and Australia that serve Nadi Airport include Virgin Australia, Qantas, Air New Zealand, and the low-cost carrier Jetstar.
Smaller carriers from neighboring Pacific countries include Aircalin of New Caledonia, Solomon Airlines of the Solomon Islands, and Air Niugini of Papua New Guinea.
NAN supports roughly 30 international scheduled flights per day.

Terminal Layout and Gates of Nadi Airport
The airport features 1 terminal, which handles both domestic and international flights. Thus, transfers are pretty easy and require just a little walking between areas of the terminal.
The terminal has 7 gates, although it is undergoing expansion works to bring the number up to 11, and introduce enhancements such as smart gates, self-check-in kiosks, and automated bag drops.
Connecting Flights and Transit
Nadi Airport is a popular transit airport for reaching smaller Pacific nations. This is facilitated by Fiji Airways, and often flight schedules are coordinated to make transits as short as possible.
Domestic and international flights operate from the same terminal, so connection transfers are straightforward with no shuttle required.
Those in transit at NAN for less than 6 hours can remain within the transit area (sometimes confusingly called the transit lounge) without the need to clear Immigration and Customs. Security screening procedures remain in place anyway.
Longer than 6 hours, and you will need to go through Immigration and enter Fiji. Most travelers are visa-exempt, though check beforehand in official sources.
Depending on the length of your transit, you may have enough time to partake in some of the best things to do in Fiji.

WiFi
Free Wi‑Fi is available throughout the terminal, with access limited to 2 hours or 1 GB.
Once you run out of either time or bandwidth, you can top up at a rate of FJD 7 for 30 minutes or 200 MB.
Lounges provide dedicated, faster Wi‑Fi, so if you’re staying at the airport longer and need to use the internet, lounge access could be a better deal overall.
Lounges
Nadi Airport houses two lounges.
The standout one is the Fiji Airways Premier Lounge, which features Wi‑Fi, gaming zones, power outlets, and a kids’ area. There is also a free buffet with a variety of local and international food and a guest favorite self-serve juicer, among other amenities.
Premium passengers of the airline can enter for free, whereas anyone is welcome for a price of 135 FJD. The lounge accepts Priority Pass, too, limited to 3 hours of stay.
The only other lounge at NAN is the Air New Zealand International Lounge, which offers similar seating areas, complimentary food, and dedicated Wi-Fi coverage.
Dining Options at Nadi Airport
Nadi Airport suffers from a lack of variety when it comes to dining options. There are, unfortunately, very few restaurants, cafes, and bars, so you should either prepare snacks before you head to the airport or settle for what little choice there is.
The Domestic part of the terminal houses only the Domestic Cafe, open from 5 AM to 9 PM.
In the International part of the terminal, you can choose between Burger King for a fast meal, KokoNui Cafe, Bar & Restaurant for a sit-down option, or the Cuppabula Coffee Shop for a cup of coffee. The Bula Bar & Bistro wraps up the options for food at the airport, although it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of variety and quality.
Transportation
Nadi Airport is approximately 10 minutes away from Nadi City and about 30 minutes from Lautoka. Reaching the capital, Suva, may take around 4 hours.
Metered taxis are available curbside in front of the terminal building. Ballpark figures are around 15 FJD to Nadi and around 18 FJD to Denarau, where most boats for nearby islands like the Mamanuca Islands and the Yasawa Islands depart from.
Hotel shuttles are widely used and often pre-arranged. Check with your accommodation before you arrive.
Budget-conscious travelers may want to leave the terminal and walk around 5 minutes to the main road in front of the airport. There is a small stop for the local buses which go to Nadi (southbound) or Lautoka (Northbound). Payment is in cash, to the driver, upon disembarking (usually 2 FJD to Nadi, for example).

Parking
Right in front of the terminal is a car park with around 150 parking spaces.
Its rates are 2.50 FJD for the first hour and 2.50 FJD for each half hour thereafter. The daily rate is 37.50 FJD for the first 8 hours and 50 FJD for each 8-hour period after that.
Hotels
There’s no on‑site airport hotel, though there are several accommodation options within walking distance of the airport.
One example is the Nadi Airport Transit Hotel, which is a good choice for short layover stays. Many other nearby hotels provide shuttle service to and from the airport.
Denarau Island (not in fact an island and connected to the mainland) is about 13 km away and hosts hotels like Hilton, Sheraton, Sofitel, Radisson, Westin, and Wyndham. Most offer shuttle services. Wailoaloa Beach, on the other side of the airport, hosts several hotels, hostels, and resorts too.
