Naples International Airport (NAP), officially known as Aeroporto di Napoli-Capodichino "Ugo Niutta," is the primary airport for Naples and the Campania region in Southern Italy.

The airport is about 5 km northeast of Naples' city center, making it one of the closest airports to a big city. Moreover, it’s the busiest airport in Southern Italy and one of the oldest in the country.

In 2024, Naples Airport handled over 12 million passengers, ranking as the fourth busiest airport in Italy. The airport is an important hub for commercial aviation with numerous flights to European destinations. Low-cost carriers hold three-quarters of the airport’s capacity.

Major Airlines - Ryanair, easyJet, Volotea, Wizz Air

Naples International Airport is a base for several low-cost airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair, Volotea, and Wizz Air.

Together, they cover 40 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa and use a considerable portion of the airport’s capacity.

Full-service airlines and major international airlines also use Naples Airport. The likes of Air France, British Airways, Austrian Airlines, and KLM to name a few, connect Naples to big cities across the Old Continent.

Naples Airport also receives many seasonal flights and charters during the high tourist season between May and September. TUI Airways is one airline that offers many seasonal flights but most airlines increase the number of their flights and destination lists in the summer too.

Terminal Layout and Gates

Naples International Airport has only one terminal - Terminal 1

It has 3 interconnected sections - A, B, and C.

The airport is organized as follows:

  • Ground Level (Landside): Check-in and arrivals areas.

  • Upper Level (Landside): Contains the main departure area (section A) and has the greatest variety of shops and restaurants to choose from. Section A has 11 gates.

  • Ground Level (Airside): Features sections B and C, with Section C designated for non-Schengen departures. Section B has 9 gates and Section C has 5 gates. Immigration screening is conducted only before entering Section C and flights from gates beginning with the letter C.

Naples Airport does not have jet bridges and to reach the aircraft, you will commonly be taken there by an airport bus or at some gates - just walk directly to the plane.

Dining Options at Naples Airport

Naples International Airport has an adequate selection of establishments offering food and drinks.

While the choice is not as great as in the city itself (lauded as one of the best food scenes in Italy), the airport houses its fair share of quick eateries and sit-down restaurants.

Some of the dining options at Naples Airport include:

  • I’Amme - Fattorie Garofalo: A lovely coffee shop-meet-bistro with some of the best pizzas at the airport.

  • Caffè Kimbo: A popular spot for authentic Italian coffee and light snacks.

  • McDonald's: The popular fast-food chain has a medium-sized restaurant at the airport - perfect for a quick burger meal.

  • Bricco Café: Offers a selection of sandwiches, pastries, and beverages in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • Giuseppe La Bufala: Specializes in fresh pizzas and other Italian specialties.

Most of the restaurants and bars are located in the departure area.

ITA Airways, Italy's flag carrier, flies regular domestic flights to Rome and Milan.

Lounges at Naples Airport

Naples Airport has just 1 VIP lounge - VIP Lounge Pearl. It offers a great selection of fresh and prepared foods, bottled water, full-sized beers, and wine. Overall, an excellent lounge. It is accessible to business class travelers and certain loyalty program members, including Priority Pass and most of the premium credit cards.

Formerly, there were two other lounges - Caruso Lounge and Alitalia Lounge but they have since closed indefinitely. Check with your airline or directly at the airport for up-to-date information about them being open again.

Transportation to and from Naples city.

Naples International Airport is not too far from the Old Town of Naples and it’s not unheard of passengers walking to the center of the city. This will take you about an hour of brisk walking.

Nonetheless, you don’t have to - Naples Airport is well connected to the city by the regular Alibus Shuttle. It stops at Piazza Garibaldi (next to Napoli Centrale train station) and the Port of Naples (close to Piazza Municipio). The shuttle bus costs 5 EUR one way.

Your other transport options are:

  • Taxi: Available outside the arrivals area. Taxis have a set fare of 20 euros to Piazza Municipio.

  • Car Rentals: Multiple car rental agencies operate at Naples Airport. Most of their offices are located at the main car park.

If you’d like a private transfer to other destinations, this can be arranged beforehand. See your options for private transfers from Naples International Airport.

Parking at NAP

Naples International Airport offers 6 parking facilities in total to accommodate different needs.

P2, P3, P4, and P5 are most suitable for short-term parking (also called “sosta breve”), although you can park for longer there too - it’s just not the most economical for stays above a few hours. The parking fare is 4 EUR per 60 minutes and 36 EUR per day with no discount for longer stays.

The long-term car park is P1. It’s just a little bit farther from the terminal but much cheaper if you’re looking to leave your car for a few days. The parking rates are 20 EUR per day, capped at 60 EUR per week and further discounted for even longer stays.

The last parking option is P Comfort, which is most suitable for business travelers. While short stays there are the most expensive at 15 EUR per hour, the daily and weekly rates fall between P1 and P2, 3, 4, and 5: 26 EUR per day and 100 EUR per week.

Hotels near Naples Airport

There are no true airport hotels at Naples Airport as none of them are located directly within the terminal building.

Your closest accommodation option is Benbo - Bed and Boarding - an affordable capsule-style hostel with shared bathroom facilities and towels for an extra charge. Albeit expensive for what it is, the unmatched proximity to the airport (just 250 meters) may weigh the scales in some cases.

Outside of the airport grounds, you will have a choice of a couple more hotels and guesthouses. For a more upscale hotel, check out Millennium Gold Hotel, which is about 800 meters from the airport and offers comfortable rooms and a restaurant.
