Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) - France's second-busiest airport

Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) is the second-largest in the French capital and a popular low-cost and short-range gateway. Learn more about the airport's terminals, airlines, lounges, restaurants, transportation, parking, nearby hotels, and other services.

Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) is France’s second-busiest airport after Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) and serves domestic, European Schengen, non-Schengen international, and overseas French territory flights.

While the larger and newer CDG airport handles more long-haul flights, Paris-Orly operates many flights to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Caribbean, South America, and North America by low-cost carriers and legacy airlines alike.

The airport is located in the communes of Orly and Villeneuve-le-Roi, about 14 km south of central Paris. In 2025, ORY handled more than 35 million passengers.

Major Airlines - Transavia

Orly’s network is dominated by Transavia, France’s largest low-cost airline. It operates more than 2000 flights per month to over 120 destinations.

Paris-Orly is the second-busiest airport in the French capital after Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Although Air France has historically had much of its domestic services to/from ORY, it will cease all but very few of its operations by mid-2026, consolidating at Paris Charles-de-Gaulle. Transavia will take over most of those domestic routes.

Other French carriers with a significant number of flights at Orly Airport include Corsair International, Air Caraïbes, and French Bee, all of which focus on Francophone destinations around the world, including North America, the Caribbean, and the Indian Ocean.

Frenchbee operates flights to several Freancophone destinations around the world.

Most other airlines at ORY are low-cost carriers. These include the British easyJet, the Spanish Volotea and Vueling, and the Hungarian Wizz Air.

Notable legacy carriers that fly to ORY include Air Algérie, Royal Air Maroc, TAP Air Portugal, Iberia, and ITA Airways. Most other full-service airlines use CDG as their Paris gateway.

Terminal Layout and Gates

ORY Airport has four interconnected terminals: Orly 1, 2, 3, and 4.

  • Orly 1 and 2 are collectively referred to as the West Terminal. They have “finger-style” concourses with 23 gates.

  • Orly 3 is the connector building linking the west and south areas under one roof. It opened in 2019 and houses Gates D and E, plus a large duty-free/retail space.

  • Orly 4 was formerly the South Terminal. It is a 6-floor structure that includes Gates E and F, shops, and restaurants. Zone F is the dedicated non-Schengen area.

The free OrlyVal automated train connects all terminals with a frequency of every 5 to 7.5 minutes. You can also use it to get to Paris’s RER B at Antony.

Alternatively, there is also a free shuttle bus linking all terminals, the P4, P5, P6, and P7 car parks, the Ibis hotel, and the police station every 10-20 minutes between 04:30 and 00:30.

If you decide to walk, the farthest distance between any two terminals does not exceed 15 minutes.

Connecting Flights and Transit

Orly’s terminals are physically connected via walkways and the OrlyVal people-mover, so transferring between flights does not generally require long transit times.

When transferring between two flights by the same airline (same booking number/PNR code), you can follow the yellow "connecting flights" signs and remain airside. Your luggage will be automatically re-checked to your final destination.

Self-transfers, on the other hand, require that you retrieve your luggage and re-check it yourself. You will also need to clear Security again on your way back in.

For most gates, you won’t need more than 15-20 minutes to transfer between flights. If one of your flights is from Gates F or D, allow at least 1 hour between flights. Self-transfers should ideally have more time between flights to factor in potential delays.

WiFi and other services

Paris-Orly provides free, unlimited Wi-Fi throughout all terminal areas. Connect to the “WIFI-AIRPORT” network. You need to enter an email address to activate the connection. Premium networks are available at an additional cost - you can activate from the welcome page.

ChargeBox charging stations are free to use and situated in all departure lounges.

Other passenger services across terminals include:

  • Currency exchange offices by Global Exchange are available in Orly 2 before Security and Orly 3&4 in the boarding area.

  • ATMs: multiple, both before and after Security in each terminal.

  • Children’s play areas: located near departure lounges in Orly 1/2/3 and Orly 4.

  • Medical assistance points.

  • Luggage storage: Available in Arrivals of Orly 3. Rates depend on the size of luggage and duration, from 3 to 7 EUR per 3 hours.

  • Lost-and-found: You must report your lost item online. Only after you are contacted can you go to the lost-and-found desk to receive your item.

  • Baby rooms in Orly 3 (L1) and Orly 4 (L1), and baby-changing areas in several places in each terminal.

  • Gaming areas: Free-to-use PlayStation 5 consoles, retro arcade machines, table football, and grand pianos exist in each terminal, after Security.

  • Workspace areas: Equipped with tables, electrical outlets, and suitable lighting.

  • Orly Medical Centre: located near Gate 10A.

  • Three pharmacies in Orly 1, 2, and 4. Also handy are the vending machines for sanitary products and toiletries.

  • Pet relief areas in Orly 4 (Level 0 and Level 1).

  • Multifaith rooms and chapels in Orly 4 and Orly 2.

Lounges at Orly Airport

Orly has several lounges, both for passengers of specific carriers and open to everyone, regardless of cabin class or airline.

At the time of writing, Air France operates two lounges. Both are located on Level 2 of Terminal Orly 3, after the Security checks, and are open between 7 AM and 9 PM. These lounges welcome eligible premium passengers of Air France and other airlines of the SkyTeam alliance.

With Air France’s withdrawal from Orly Airport, it is unlikely that the airline will continue to maintain lounges at ORY, though no official announcement has been made yet.

The only other airline-specific lounge at ORY is Royal Air Maroc Zenith Lounge, located in boarding area F of Orly 4. It is open from 7 AM to 10 PM.

Travelers of other airlines can visit either:

  • Premium Traveller Lounge - Iberia: Orly 1, Level 0, Gates A. Open between 6 AM and 9 PM.

  • Primeclass Lounge: Orly 4, Level 3, after Security. Open between 7 AM and 10:30 PM.

  • Extime Lounge: Orly 4, Level 2, after Security. Open between 5:30 AM and 10 PM.

All lounges normally offer food and drinks, reading material, dedicated wi-fi, comfortable seating, and other amenities.

Dining Options at ORY

Paris-Orly’s food and drink choices are spread across all terminals. There is something to suit every taste, no matter the time of day.

French bakeries like Paul and Brioche Dorée offer coffee, pastries, and sandwiches, while various sit-down options cater to solo travelers and groups alike, serving both French and international cuisine.

Transavia dominates the passenger traffic at Orly Airport.

Some notable restaurants at ORY include:

  • Ladurée: A tea room-restaurant in the public area of Orly 1 that serves a seasonal menu for breakfast and lunch all day.

  • Exki: Offers sandwiches, salads, and home-made soups in various locations in Orly 1, 3, and 4.

Transport to and from Paris-Orly Airport

The most straightforward transport option at ORY is the Metro Line 14, which stops directly at the airport and reaches the city centre (Gare de Lyon or Châtelet-Les Halles) in around 20-25 minutes. It runs every 5 minutes between 5:30 AM and 1:15 AM.

An alternative is to take the automated airport train, Orlyval, to Antony RER B station, where you can catch an onward RER service to downtown Paris.

Both options above cost 14 EUR, with tickets allowing onward travel on any Paris transport mode.

A much cheaper, but slower, option is to take the T7 Tram, which connects ORY to Villejuif-Louis Aragon station, where you can connect to Metro Line 7. This service runs every 15 minutes between 5:30 AM and 0:30 AM. The two tickets combined cost 4.60 EUR.

Similarly, bus line 183 runs to Marché International de Rungis between 5 AM and 1 AM at a single ticket price of 2.05 EUR.

If your flight arrives late at night, bus lines N131 and N144 become very handy. They run every hour between 1 AM and 5 AM with services to the Paris city center and its suburbs.

Taxis take around 25-45 minutes to reach Paris, depending on traffic conditions and your destination. The official ranks are outside Arrivals at each terminal. Taxis have fixed rates to certain destinations, for example, 45 EUR to Paris Rive Droite or 36 EUR to Paris Rive Gauche.
