Palermo Airport (PMO), officially Falcone-Borsellino Airport, is the international airport serving Palermo, the capital of Sicily, Italy, and most of northwestern Sicily. The airport is the second-busiest on the island after Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) in the eastern part of the island.

Palermo Airport is located in Cinisi, about 35 km northwest of Palermo’s city centre. It handled more than 9 million passengers in 2025, making it one of Italy’s top 10 airports. PMO sees a mix of domestic, European, and seasonal international flights.
Major Airlines - Ryanair
Throughout most of the year, Palermo Airport primarily offers low-cost flights to European destinations. Ryanair offers the largest number of flights and destinations, with as many as 1,000 flights per month, serving over 40 destinations.
Other budget airlines at PMO include easyJet, Transavia, Volotea, Vueling, and Wizz Air.
Full-service airlines that offer scheduled, year-round flights to Palermo include ITA Airways, Lufthansa, SWISS, and Turkish Airlines.
During the summer, seasonal schedules kick in and result in a massive increase in international arrivals. Airlines that only offer seasonal flights to and from PMO include British Airways, Austrian Airlines, Iberia, LOT Polish Airlines, and United Airlines (for direct service to New York - Newark).

Throughout most of the year, the airport is quiet and easy to navigate. During the peak summer traffic in June, July, and August, the common areas of the airport can get quite busy, and queues may form - up to 45 minutes at the Security Checkpoint.
