Major Airlines - Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air, Sky Express

Thessaloniki Airport is a hub for Aegean Airlines, the flag carrier of Greece. It offers the most flights per month (>600) and serves the most destinations (>35) of all airlines at SKG.

Aegean Airlines is the largest airline serving SKG.

The other two airlines that use SKG as a hub are Olympic Air and Sky Express. The former is a regional carrier with direct services to several Greek islands in the eastern Aegean. At the same time, the latter is a major domestic airline that also flies direct to various European destinations.

Thessaloniki is also served by several low-cost airlines, such as Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, Transavia, and Eurowings.

Among the full-service airlines offering direct flights to and from SKG, the prominent ones include Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, British Airways, Israir, and LOT Polish Airlines.

The airport sees a significant seasonal increase in the number of flights it handles during the summer. Airlines that capture the increased seasonal demand at SKG include Jet2.com, Smartwings, and TUI Airways.

Terminal Layout and Gates

Thessaloniki Airport has two terminals, T1 and T2, which are connected in the public area by an internal corridor. You can walk between them freely, both before and after Security. They share a common transit area, so it doesn’t matter which Security Checkpoint you use.

Terminal 1 is the original building and has 12 gates (#13 to #24) for both Schengen and non-Schengen flights. Airlines that use T1 include Air Serbia, British Airways, Cyprus Airways, easyJet, El Al, Jet2.com, Swiss, Tarom, Turkish Airlines, and Wizz Air.

Terminal 2 is a new facility, opened in 2001, and also features 12 gates (#1 to #12) for Schengen and domestic flights. Airlines that use T2 include Aegean Airlines, airBaltic, Austrian, Enter Air, Eurowings, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Olympic Air, Ryanair, SAS, Sky Express, Smartwings, Transavia, and Volotea.

Both terminals use a standard layout: Arrivals are on the Ground Floor, Check-in desks and Departures are on the first floor. The second floor houses a few restaurants and bars.

Transfers between flights are very easy, even if you arrive at one terminal and fly out of the other. Most travelers arrive from within the Schengen area and proceed on a domestic flight, so there are no Immigration checks at SKG.

Follow the "Flight Connections" signs to remain airside and not have to clear Security again. This way, you can transfer between flights in as little as 25 minutes. Allow extra time during the summer and for non-Schengen departures.
