Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) is the main airport serving Tunisia, located just 10 km northeast of downtown Tunis. The airport is named for the historic city of Carthage, located east of the airport.

It is the country’s busiest airport, handling around 7 million passengers per year. TUN plays a central role in connecting Tunisia with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, while also functioning as a hub for domestic travel.
Major Airlines - Tunisair, Nouvelair
Tunisair and Tunisair Express are the primary home carriers at TUN. As flag carriers of the country, they link their hub, Tunir Airport, to more than 35 destinations in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Nouvelair is another Tunisian airline that operates over 350 flights per month from TUN. It focuses on leisure and charter flights, particularly to European destinations.

European carriers such as Air France, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, ITA Airways, and several low-cost airlines such as Transavia France and Eurowings also serve the airport, offering both scheduled and seasonal routes.
Of the Asian and African airlines with flights to TUN, notable ones include Qatar Airways, Emirates, Egyptair, Royal Air Maroc, and Saudia, among others.

Terminal Layout of TUN
The airport has two terminals:
Terminal 1, which handles the majority of international and domestic traffic.
Terminal 2, which is smaller and used mainly for charter and seasonal flights.
Unless you are taking a charter flight, chances are you will arrive and depart from Terminal 1. Its facilities are compact, and it doesn’t require a lot of walking between places.

Signage is clear, including in English, but queues at immigration and security can build up during peak times.
Dining Options at Tunis-Carthage Airport
Food and beverage options at TUN are modest.
You will find cafés, fast-food counters, and small restaurants serving a mix of Tunisian snacks, pastries, and international quick bites.
The international departures hall has the most options, while domestic and charter areas are more limited. Lounges normally provide complimentary food.
Most outlets operate in line with flight schedules, so if you’re at the airport outside peak times, you may find yourself surrounded by closed shops.
Note that prices at the airport are in EUR, not Tunisian Dinar (TND), and the latter may not be accepted at all!
Some dining options at TUN are:
Cappuccino Express: a place to buy coffee in the public area.
Plan B: fast food in the transit area.
Pâtisserie Gourmandise: Located in the transit area.
Wi-Fi at Tunis Airport
There is no public wifi network at the airport.
You can use the wifi provided in some of the restaurants or cafes, or in the premium class lounges if you are a customer/guest of these.

Lounges at TUN
Tunisair operates a lounge at the airport, located airside in Terminal 1. It offers comfortable seating, Wi-Fi access, and light refreshments.
Two more independent pay-per-use lounges are available: Espace Privilège and AVS Lounge. A 3-hour pass costs 60 EUR. As a guest, you get the additional perk of being able to fast-track through customs and security.
Facilities are limited compared to larger European hubs. If you’re a frequent traveler, you may find the lounge options at Tunis Airport inadequate. Premium amenities such as showers are not provided.

Transport to and from Tunis Airport
The airport is connected to the Tunis city center via bus and taxi.
Bus Line 635 runs to the downtown areas every 30-40 minutes between 6:40 AM and 8:00 PM, costing just 1 TND. Its terminus is the city is Tunis Marine. Tickets can only be purchased with cash on the bus - a conductor goes around and collects everyone’s cash.
Taxis are available curbside. A typical journey to the city center takes around 30 minutes. Prices are not set and largely depend on your ability to negotiate. As a ballpark figure, the fare to the city should be around 25-30 TND.
Alternatively, the ride-sharing platform Bolt operates at Tunis Airport. Prices are dynamic, but rarely exceed 15 TND to get to areas within the city center or 20 TND to Resort Gammarth or Karthago.

Note that, despite the name, the L'Aéroport station on the TGM suburban rail line is several kilometers away from the airport and thus not a viable transportation option.
