Bergen Flesland Airport (BGO), called Bergen Lufthamn in Norwegian, is the main airport of Norway’s second-largest city, Bergen, and the surrounding Vestland region. It’s the closest airport to the stunning Norwegian fjords.

The airport is located in Flesland, about 17 km south of Bergen’s centre. It is the second-busiest airport in Norway. BGO is a busy hub for Scandinavian and European travel with direct routes to most European capitals.

Bergen Airport recorded nearly 7 million passengers in 2025, ranking as the fifth busiest in Scandinavia.

Major Airlines - Norwegian Air Shuttle, Widerøe, SAS

The airline with the most flights at Bergen Airport is the regional carrier Widerøe. It offers more than 1300 flights monthly, mainly serving domestic flights across Norway, including to smaller regional airports.

Widerøe links Bergen with regional destinations and smaller airports in Norway.

Norwegian Air Shuttle complements that network, adding dozens of international routes to Northern and Central Europe, and seasonal direct services to holiday destinations in Southern Europe.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) completes the top 3 airlines at BGO with its frequent flights to Oslo and other Nordic hubs like Copenhagen and Stockholm.

Full-service airlines that fly to Bergen include KLM, Lufthansa, Air Baltic, Air France, Finnair, and LOT Polish Airlines.

The low-cost sector is dominated by Wizz Air, which introduces new routes every year. Other LCCs include Transavia and Eurowings.

Norwegian Air Shuttle is the largest airline in Norway. It flies from Bergen to over 20 destinations.

Terminal Layout and Gates

Bergen Airport has a modern two-level terminal with a single central concourse that handles domestic, Schengen, and non-Schengen traffic.

The Ground Floor has the check-in area and Arrivals, while the Upper Level holds the Departures and the Gates. Walking distances between Security and the gates are short - less than 10 minutes to reach the farthest gates. The required time between connecting flights, assuming no delays, is 1 hour.

There are 11 gates in total, all using jetbridges. Gates B, C, and D serve domestic flights; Gates E and F serve international flights.

Free Wi-Fi and other services

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. To connect, select the “AIRPORT” network, then open your browser to launch the welcome page. Once there, select "Free" and log in.

The connection lasts 4 hours. If you need to use the wi-fi after that, you just need to repeat the process above.

Additional passenger services at BGO include:

  • ATMs operated by Loomis in the public and airside areas.

  • Nursing rooms in the departure areas. Diaper-changing tables are provided in men’s and women’s washrooms throughout the terminal.

  • Children’s play area located airside.

  • Tax refund: If you live outside of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, or Finland, you can claim tax on purchases over 315 NOK in affiliated stores at the Global Blue or Planet desk.

  • Police station in the public area of the terminal.

Passengers with premium status at several airlines, including SAS, Widerøe, and others, can enter for free. The same applies to holders of DragonPass, LoungeKey (for customers of specific Norwegian banks), and premium American Express.

It is located airside, near Gate E17. It opens one hour before the first international departure and closes after the last flight’s boarding is complete.

The lounge offers comfortable seating with views of the runway, snacks and light meals, drinks, Wi-Fi, newspapers, and more.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flies from Bergen to other Nordic cities.

With clean soundproofed rooms, comfy beds, and a surprisingly good early breakfast, this hotel is often the first choice for those landing or flying out of Bergen Airport.

Not much farther away is the Comfort Hotel Bergen Airport - a similar 3-star hotel with an on-site restaurant and a fabulous breakfast.
