Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) - Buenos Aires' international hub

Ministro Pistarini International Airport is the main international gateway into the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. Learn more about the airport's terminals, airlines, lounges, dining options, transportation, parking, nearby hotels, and other services.

Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) is the main international airport serving Buenos Aires, Argentina. In contrast, the other large airport within the Buenos Aires Metropolitan area, Jorge Newbery Airfield (Aeroparque, AEP), is busier but focused mostly on domestic routes.

Pistarini Airport is located in Ezeiza, 22 km southwest of central Buenos Aires, hence the IATA code EZE. If driving, it takes about 35-40 minutes to reach the city center from the airport.

Ezeiza receives over 85% of all long-haul flights into Argentina. The airport handles around 11-12 million passengers annually and is among the 20 busiest airports in Latin America.

Major Airlines - Aerolíneas Argentinas

Ezeiza is one of Aerolíneas Argentinas’ main hubs (the other being the Aeroparque Airport, also in Buenos Aires). The national flag carrier operates both international and domestic services from EZE across the Americas and Europe and is the largest airline at the airport.

The ultra-low-cost Argentine airline, FlyBondi, also uses Ezeiza as a hub to fly to several cities in Argentina and neighboring countries. The other large low-cost airline in Argentina, JetSmart, also provides connectivity to budget-conscious travelers.

Regional airlines that connect Buenos Aires to destinations across Latin America include LATAM Airlines (its branches in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Perú), Aeroméxico, Avianca, Boliviana de Aviación, Copa Airlines, and Gol Linhas Aéreas, among others.

Various American and European airlines also provide long-haul flights to their hubs in North America and the Old World. Major carriers include American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Air France, KLM, Iberia, Lufthansa, British Airways, and Turkish Airlines.

It’s also possible to fly from Buenos Aires directly to Asia and Africa, thanks to Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines.

LATAM is one of the largest airline at EZE.

Terminal and Sectors

Ezeiza has three terminals:

  • New Departures Terminal: Also known as the "Zeppelin Terminal" for its unique, futuristic design. It is an expansion of the former Terminal B, opened in 2023, and is now the largest facility at EZE. It handles all departures, both international and domestic.

  • International Arrivals Terminal: Also referred to as Terminal A. It is used only for International Arrivals.

  • Domestic Arrivals Terminal: Aka Terminal C. Handles only Domestic Arrivals, mostly by Aerolíneas Argentinas.

The terminals are connected internally, so you can walk between them without going outside. The terminal designation is somewhat meaningless for passengers; the sector system is much handier.

Most gates at EZE have jetbridges.

Departures are organized in four different sectors, which are used by different airlines:

  • Sector A: Used by FlyBondi and JetSmart.

  • Sector B: Used by American Airlines, Boliviana, British Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and GOL.

  • Sector C: Used by Aeroméxico, Air France, Arajet, Emirates, Iberia, KLM, Level, and Sky Airlines.

  • Sector D: Used by Aerolineas Argentinas and ITA Airways.

  • Sector E: Used by Air Europa, Avianca, LATAM, Lufthansa, SWISS, Turkish Airlines, and United Airlines.

  • Sector F: Used by Air Canada, Copa Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.

  • Sector G: Used by Andes Lineas Aereas and Paranair.

Connecting Flights and Transit

Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport has an international transit zone, so connecting between two international flights does not require clearing Immigration. In most cases, your luggage will be automatically transferred. Upon disembarking, follow the yellow "Connections" signs.

Transferring from a domestic to an international flight also doesn’t require that you re-check your luggage (the airline will likely do it automatically), but the reverse (arriving on an international flight and proceeding on a domestic flight) does.

The airport is small and compact, and walking between gates doesn’t take a lot of time, though you should still factor in at least an hour between connections to have some buffer.

You may need to transfer between Ezeiza (EZE) and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) for some self-connections, which requires a road journey of 45 to 75 minutes.

Free Wi-Fi and other services

Ezeiza Airport offers free and unlimited Wi-Fi throughout all terminals. To connect, select the “AA2000-Free-WiFi” network and follow the registration instructions on the splash page that will open automatically.

Other passenger services at EZE include:

  • ATMs: Available in the Arrivals Area. Note that they use the official exchange rate.

Lounges at EZE Airport

Given its status as an international airport, it should come as no surprise that there are several lounges, both airline-specific and independent, at Ezeiza.

Each terminal houses at least one lounge, but note that all lounges are airside, i.e., after the Security checkpoint.

Frequent travelers can use one of those lounges:

  • Star Alliance Lounge: Open 24/7. Located near Gate 9 in the international section of Terminal B. Passes may be purchased at the door for 50 USD if availability allows.

  • LATAM Lounge: Located in front of Gate 9 in the international section of Terminal B. Open to match the flight schedules of LATAM and Delta Air Lines.

  • Club Condor: Open between 4 AM and midnight to welcome premium passengers of Aerolíneas Argentinas. Located near Gates 15 and 16 in Terminal C.

  • Admirals Club: The US’s largest airline, American Airlines, maintains a lounge for its passengers near Gate 9. It’s open daily from 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM.

The following are lounges that accept holders of various credit cards, lounge membership programs, and walk-ins:

Transport to and from Ministro Pistarini Airport

Although there is no direct train or metro connection, public transport is a practical option to travel to/from EZE. Public buses called colectivos are cheap, relatively quick, and link the airport with many places around Buenos Aires.

Here are the most useful public bus lines:

  • Bus 8 (Expreso): Goes to Plaza del Congreso and Plaza de Mayo in the Buenos Aires city center, and other places. Buses run every 32 minutes on weekdays (every 1 hour on the weekend and public holidays), from 07:00 AM to 09:00 PM. This bus uses the Autopista (highway) and is much faster than the regular 8A line (which is much more frequent, on the other hand).

  • Bus 51: Goes to Constitución every 40 minutes on weekdays and every hour on weekends. Use this bus to transfer to the metro - get off at Avenida Pavón and take Metro Line C.

  • Bus 394: Goes to Correo Central, Estación Ferroviaria Monte Grande, and Camino de Cintura every 12 minutes.

  • Bus 518: Goes to Carlos Spegazzini with stops at Barrio Uno, Ciudad de Ezeiza, and Hospital de Ezeiza every 10-15 minutes between 4:00 AM and 11:40 PM.

Buses are the main form of transportation in Buenos Aires and several lines serve the airports.

To take the public buses, you need a SUBE rechargeable card, which you can buy from Open 25 kiosks at the airport or in the city. The card costs 880 ARS, and journeys cost around 500 ARS, depending on the line and distance traveled.

Airport shuttle buses operated by Manuel Tienda León provide hourly service to central Buenos Aires (Terminal Madero) and Aeroparque (AEP). They are faster and more comfortable than collectivos but more expensive. The company has counters in the public area of the International Arrivals Terminal where you can buy/validate your ticket.

  • Shuttles to Terminal Madero cost 8000 ARS online or 13000 ARS in person at the airport.

  • Shuttles to Aeroparque Newbery cost 11000 ARS.

Remises are a form of private transportation in Argentina. It operates on a door-to-door basis with fixed fares that you pay before taking the ride. Remis companies like On Baires Transfer, REMIS Vip Cars, and REMIS Transfer Express have official desks at the airport where you can arrange and pay for your ride. A remis ride to the city center costs around 50.000 ARS.

Buenos Aires has a metro network but it doesn't presently reach Ezeiza Airport.

Official taxis are also available at any time at EZE. They use the meter and are generally cheaper than remises, although scams are common. The official taxi companies are TAXIS Municipalidad de Ezeiza and TAXIS Municipalidad de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. As a comparison, rides to the city center cost around 40.000 ARS.

Uber is also available in Argentina with prices similar to those of taxis. Check the app for pick-up and drop-off locations at EZE Airport.

Lastly, if you’re planning to explore more of Argentina, renting a car is a smart choice. The car rental companies that have desks inside Ezeiza Airport include: Alamo National, Avis, KEKO, Hertz, Europcar, LOCALIZA, SIXT, and Wonder Rent a Car. The desks are either in Arrivals or in the E1 parking, depending on the company.

Parking at EZE

Ezeiza has 5 car parks close to the terminals and a pick-up area/waiting zone within one of them.

The available facilities are as follows:

  • E1 Car Park: Located about 4 minutes away from Terminal A or 9 minutes from Terminal C on foot. Best for medium-term parking not exceeding 1 week. It is the cheapest non-long-term option at EZE. Charges 3800 ARS per hour or 19000 ARS per day.

  • E2 Car Park: A covered four-story parking garage with an uncovered patio. Located in front of the new Departures terminal. Charges 4400 ARS per hour or 22000 ARS per day.

  • E3 Car Park: Another multi-level parking garage close to International Arrivals at Terminal A. It offers both covered and uncovered parking. Charges 4400 ARS per hour or 22000 ARS per day.

  • E4 Parking Lot: The best option for long-term parking. Connected to the terminals via a complimentary shuttle (or you can walk the 1 km to the terminals). Offers cheaper rates for weekly (85000 ARS), fortnightly (113000 ARS), or monthly (200000 ARS) stays.
    • Pick-up area and waiting zone: Located right in the middle of E4 and offers parking free of charge for up to 1 hour, after which the standard rates of E4 begin.

  • E5 Car Park: Located in front of Terminal C (Domestic Arrivals). Offers open-air parking. Charges 3800 ARS per hour or 19000 ARS per day.

Passengers of EZE can park motorcycles free of charge in E1, E2, E3, or E5.

Hotels near Ezeiza Airport, Buenos Aires

There are no full-service hotels within the airport grounds.

If you’d like to stay as close to the terminals as possible, the only option is the serviced pods by My Pod Capsule Boutique AirPort. The pods are 700 meters from the terminals, on the edge of the airport. You can also use the golf-cart shuttle provided for free. They look like shipping containers from the outside, but provide a clean, soft bed within an air-conditioned “pod/capsule” to lie on inside, which can be a godsend after a long transcontinental flight.

If you’d like to stay in a proper hotel, the closest options are in Barrio Uno, about 4 km from the Airport.

A good option is the EZE Inn Boutique Hotel, which offers free Wi-Fi, a terrace, breakfast, a snack bar, and free transfers to and from the terminals.

For a little more upscale hotel, check out the Holiday Inn Ezeiza Airport, about 9 km away from the terminals. It offers a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, a business center, 2 on-site restaurants, free parking, and a complimentary shuttle to/from EZE.

If you choose to stay in central Buenos Aires, the most popular neighborhoods are Palermo or Recoleta. Check the transportation section above for details on how to reach.
