Nuremberg Airport, or Nürnberg Airport (NUE), is a midsize international airport in the Franconian region within the German state of Bavaria.
The airport is located 6 km north of Nuremberg city centre. It handles traffic from mostly low-cost carriers and leisure airlines to holiday and tourism destinations in Europe, Turkey, and Egypt.
NUE handles around 4 million passengers annually. It is the second-busiest airport in Bavaria, after the major hub, Munich Airport (MUC), and the 9th busiest in Germany.
Major Airlines - Ryanair, Wizz Air
Nuremberg Airport is an operating base for Ryanair, which is the airline with the most flights. The Irish LCC offers many routes to destinations in Europe, including seasonal flights to popular holiday spots.

Wizz Air follows closely after with around 10 routes, mostly to cities in Eastern Europe, which is the airline’s primary market.
The German low-cost carrier Eurowings also operates direct flights to several destinations in Southern Europe and the Middle East, usually during the high season for the respective places.
Corendon Airlines Europe and Marabu also use NUE as an operating base, focusing on leisure and holiday demand.

Very few full-service airlines offer flights to Nuremberg. For example, British Airways flies to London Heathrow and Turkish Airlines flies to Istanbul. Lufthansa offers four flights daily to its hub in Frankfurt.
Terminal Layout and Gates
Nuremberg Airport has one passenger terminal with 2 levels.
Arrivals are on the ground floor, while the two departure halls with a combined total of 40 check-in desks and the security checkpoint are on the upper floor. After Security, there are 19 gates.

Flights to destinations outside the Schengen area use the Transfer-Control-Terminal (TCT), an extension of the main terminal.
The airport receives very few flights during the winter months, so traffic is low and queues are rare. Summer sees the introduction of seasonal services and a greater change of lines at Security, but passenger numbers remain low compared to busier hubs. There are only 3 baggage carousels, so when several flights land in a quick succession, this may result in a bottleneck.

REWE To Go: A supermarket in Departure Hall 2.

Transport to and from the airport
One of the best things about Nuremberg Airport is that it's directly connected to the city’s metro network. The U2 line runs from “Flughafen” station to Nuremberg Central Station in about 12 minutes. The station is directly beneath the terminal. Single tickets cost 3.90 EUR, and daily passes are 8.30 EUR.

Additionally, bus lines 30 and 33 connect the Airport. Prices depend on the distance of your journey. Buy the appropriate ticket online via the VGN online store.
Intercity connections are provided by Postbus buses. The company offers direct bus service to Munich, northwest Germany (via Frankfurt and Würzburg), and Leipzig and Berlin several times per day. You can buy a ticket both on board and online. The bus stop at NUE is signposted and in front of the Terminal.
Taxis are also available outside arrivals, at any hour throughout the day. Fares are metered and around 25 EUR for the 15-minute journey.

Locals will find getting to the airport by bicycle extremely convenient. Several cycling lanes link NUE with different parts of the city, and you can park your bicycle on the racks along the terminal.
Parking at Nuremberg Airport
Nuremberg Airport officially manages two short-term parking areas and three general parking lots near the terminal building. In addition, there is one privately-managed long-term parking about 700 meters away.
The Kiss & Fly zone is right in front of the terminal and offers a free-parking period of 8 minutes. After that, a fee of 2 EUR applies for the first 20 minutes and a further 1 EUR for every 10 minutes thereafter.
The next closest option for short-term parking is P5, which is ideal for bringing passengers to the airport or picking them up after arrival. The first 15 minutes are free, after which a fee of 2 EUR applies for the first 30 minutes (4 EUR for the first hour and 2 EUR per hour thereafter).
Parking garages P2, P3, and P4 are all within walking distance of the terminal and do not require a shuttle. The first 15 minutes are free at any of them. Their prices are similar, with P3 being a little bit cheaper. Hourly rates start at 5 EUR for the first hour and decrease after that. The daily maximum is around 30 EUR. Rates can also depend on seasonality.
ParkingPLUS, the premium parking option at NUE, is on the lower level of P2. Rates are between 45 and 77 EUR for the first day, depending on the season. Weekly prices range between 154 and 219 EUR.
P12 is not managed by the airport. It’s a long-term parking lot about 700 meters from the terminal. It requires an online booking. Weekly rates start at 69 EUR.
EV charging stations are available in the terminal forecourt, P2, P3, and P5.
You can park two-wheeled vehicles for free in a dedicated area near the terminal. The license plate scanner automatically recognizes them.
Hotels near Nürnberg Airport
The Mövenpick Hotel Nürnberg Airport is located directly opposite the entrance, less than 200 meters away. It is the most convenient option for early departures or late arrivals. This 4-star hotel offers soundproofed, air-conditioned rooms with coffee makers, a small bar/restaurant area on-site, and an amazing breakfast buffet.
The next closest accommodation option is Schlötzer, a small independent hotel about an 18-minute walk from the terminal. Note that it’s in a quiet residential area and not suitable if you want to explore Nürnberg.
Given the airport’s proximity to the city (just 12 minutes via the subway), most visitors stay in the city center instead.
