Paphos International Airport (PFO) is the second-busiest airport in Cyprus after Larnaca Airport (LCA), which is the only other international airport in the Greek part of Cyprus.

Paphos is more convenient if your destination is in western Cyprus, for example, Kato Paphos, Pegeia, Neo Chorio, Polis Chrysochous, and other towns and resorts. PFO is an overwhelmingly tourist airport with highly increased flight schedules in the summer (May to October) and a much quieter low season in the winter (November to April).

The airport is located around 15 km southeast of Paphos city. It handles 3 to 4 million passengers per year, a lot of which by low-cost, leisure, and charter carriers.

Major Airlines - Ryanair

Ryanair maintains one of its largest Mediterranean bases here. Europe’s largest low-cost airline flies to more than 35 destinations in Europe, including London Stansted, Manchester, Dublin, Milan, Warsaw, Vienna, and Rome.

Ryanair has improved the connectivity of Paphos Airport at least threefold since it based a few aircraft there in 2012.

easyJet and Jet2.com also operate numerous routes, particularly to the United Kingdom, including direct flights from Birmingham, Bristol, Gatwick, Newcastle, Glasgow, and others. Most of these are offered throughout the year.

Most other airlines only fly seasonal routes to Paphos. Larger charter and leisure airlines include Buzz, TUI Airways, and Transavia.

Full-service airlines (e.g. British Airways, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines) also fly to Paphos but only during the high season.

Terminal Layout and Gates

Paphos Airport has just one terminal that opened in 2008. It’s quite small and only has one floor.

Departures are on the left (west), and Arrivals are on the right (east).

There is only one Security checkpoint, followed by Immigration controls. This layout will change slightly if Cyprus joins the Schengen area.

On arrival at Paphos Airport, if you’re a citizen of the EU, you may use the automated kiosks. They will dispense a small paper ticket, which you can present to the Immigration official for faster processing.

Paphos Airport’s terminal has 22 aircraft stands, 6 boarding gates, and 24 check-in desks.

Free Wi-Fi and other services

Free WiFi is available throughout the terminal. To use, select the “Pafos International Airport Wi-Fi” network and follow the on-screen procedures.

Other passenger services at PFO include:

  • ATMs: Several Cypriot banks have machines in Baggage Reclaim, Arrivals, and airside.

  • Currency exchange: Prosegur Change has a kiosk in Arrivals, open from 8 AM to midnight.

  • Baby changing rooms: Available in all the toilets throughout the terminal.

  • Breastfeeding rooms: There is one in Arrivals, one in Baggage Reclaim, and one in Departures, next to the Premium Lounge.

  • Baby strollers: Notify your airline to request.

  • Baggage wrapping: A paid service provided by Safe-Sac in the Check-in area.

  • Porter service: Costs 10 EUR per trolley.

  • Lost & Found: Located in the Baggage Reclaim area.

  • Smoking area: Located at the Beer Garden, after Immigration.

  • Water dispensers: Available both landside and airside.

Lounges at Paphos Airport

Paphos Airport has only one lounge available: the Premium Lounge. It is located after Security in Departures, opposite Gate 7.

You can use most of the lounge membership passes, including Priority Pass, DragonPass, and others, to enter. Alternatively, the lounge allows you to pay 34 EUR at the door for a 3-hour pass.

Premium Lounge provides hot and cold buffet items, beer, wine, coffee, soft drinks, workspaces, and reading materials.

Dining Options at PFO

The most recognizable place to eat or grab a pre-flight drink is Beer Garden. The terrace bar serves everything from alcoholic beverages to snacks, packaged sandwiches, and hot dogs. It’s located in the Departure Hall, airside.

Nearby, you can also find Camden Food Co, which also sells sandwiches, as well as salads, snacks, and more. Also suitable for a quick meal or to-go is Food For Flight, which remains open 24/7.

Another notable bar is Central Bar, also located in Departures.

The so-called Food Village in Departures features several dining options, including pizzerias, burgers, and other international food.

For coffee, visit Caffe Ritazza, open 24/7.

Transport to and from the airport

The most useful public transport option is Bus 612, which connects the airport with Kato Paphos, the harbour area, and the "Tomb of Kings" station in the north of the city, stopping at many landmarks and popular places along the beach. The bus runs about once an hour with precise timetables installed at the bus stop right in front of the terminal. Tickets cost 2 EUR (3 EUR after 9 PM), sold by the driver.

Bus 613 is also useful, especially if you’re going to the Karavella bus station in the historic part of Paphos, which is about 2-3 km from the beachside areas. At this bus station, you can take long-distance buses to other parts of Cyprus.

Paphos is a popular beachside resort in Western Cyprus.

Several shuttle companies also organize rides to Paphos. Companies licensed to serve passengers at the airport include Kapnos Airport Shuttle, Limassol Airport Express, and Pafos Transport Organisation Ltd.

Taxis are also available around the clock at a designated taxi rank, located on the right, after you exit the Arrivals Hall at Level 0. A taxi ride to Paphos Harbour generally costs around 30EUR.

Public and intercity transport can get you between the major cities in Cyprus, but is unreliable and/or infrequent outside. That’s why many travelers rent a car instead. Places like the Akamas Peninsula, Coral Bay, and the Troodos Mountains are only realistically reachable by car. You can rent a car directly at Paphos Airport from one of the companies with desks in the Arrivals Hall. These include Avis/Budget, Hertz, Europcar, SIXT, Astra, and Petsas.

Parking at Paphos Airport

Paphos Airport offers both short-term and long-term parking.

A pick-up and drop-off area is available next to the airport taxi parking lot. Stopping there is gratis for the first 5 minutes, after which a few of 10 EUR will apply.

Alternatively, all parking lots except for P4 allow parking for up to 20 minutes at a charge of just 1 EUR.

The parking fares at the available parking facilities at PFO are:

  • Short-term Uncovered P1: 4 EUR for the first hour, 12 EUR for the first day, plus 10 EUR for each additional day.

  • Long-term Covered P2: 7 EUR for the first hour, 15 EUR for the first day, plus 12 EUR for each additional day.

  • Long-term Uncovered P7: 4 EUR for the first hour, 10 EUR for the first day, plus 4 EUR for each additional day.

Hotels near Paphos Airport

There are no hotels at the airport, nor close to it. Most travelers stay in Paphos itself.

The Aphrodite Sands Resort is somewhat close to the airport, about 6 km away, in the nearby town of Mandria.

For all intents and purposes, it’s best to stay where you want to be based anyway, even for early flights or later arrivals. Transport to the airport is available 24/7, and you can get to/from your hotel at any time of the day, no problem.

Airport transfer and taxi

If you are arriving at Paphos International Airport and want to go to the city, you have several options. You can take a bus, a taxi, or a rental car. The bus is the cheapest and most convenient option, as it runs frequently. The taxi is more expensive and may take longer depending on the traffic.
